What are The Chronic Ischemic Heart Disease Signs and Symptoms?

Ischemic heart disease (IHD), which is frequently termed as Coronary artery disease (CAD), is a condition that affects the flow of blood to the heart. The coronary arteries supply blood to the heart muscles and when these arteries get contracted due to the collection of plaque on their inner surface. The adequate provision of blood to the heart, get affected and results into Ischemic heart disease.

Chronic Ischemic heart disease signs and symptoms are not detectable immediately, as the arteries get blocked slowly. Typically, IHD initial symptoms surface when an individual is involved in some intense physical job or any emotional stress. Few of the early signs are Shortness of Breath, tightness in the chest, weakness, sweating and discomfort in neck & jaw. 


However, in a critical situation, Ischemic heart disease symptom is categorised into 4: 

1: Stable Angina

In Stable Angina pain in the chest occurs. It is a state, in which a person will notice restlessness and discomfort in the chest area. It surfaces, during a time of intense physical exercise, when heart muscles require a substantial amount of blood. Also, due to the contraction of arteries, this huge demand of blood is not get fulfilled and evolve into stable Angina. Chest pain ordinarily lasts 10 – 15 mins and a person will feel relieved after having rest.

2: Unstable Angina

In Unstable Angina, an individual will feel severe pain in the chest. Unstable angina only occurs when a person is at rest. Also, it can last for several minutes. It is a clear indication of significant arteries blockage. Also, an immense build-up of plaque in the arteries. 

3: Myocardial Infarction

Myocardial Infarction or ordinarily known as heart attack, this is caused by the no blood supply to the heart or a particular area of the heart, which results in damaging of the heart muscle. In a state of heart attack, body shows the indications like discomfort in the arm, neck and jaw. In a situation of heart attack, an individual immediately needs to visit a specialist doctor or a hospital, as this can be life threatening.

4: Cardiac Arrest

Cardiac arrest is a situation in which blood circulation stops due to the heart failure, and this is a grave situation in which a delay of few minutes can result in death. General symptoms are unresponsiveness of the person and un natural breathing. 

IHD cannot be treated completely, but it can be managed effectively. Heart treatment involves lifestyle changes like avoid eating food which is having a high amount of cholesterol and fats, stop smoking, avoid ingestion of alcohol, eating a healthy diet and add 15 -30 minutes daily workout in your schedule.
